The Brief

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the Department of War will establish a new military testing range in Montana, calling it a “new super range for testing advanced weapons and technologies.” The announcement came during a campaign rally at Majestic Valley Arena in Kalispell, where Trump sought to boost Republican congressional candidate Aaron Flint and Senate candidate Kurt Alme.

The president said the range would support testing of possible autonomous weapons, space and electronic warfare technology, supersonics, and hypersonics. “Montana will help ensure the American military always reigns supreme,” Trump told attendees, adding that the Iran war would “end very quickly.”

Trump also revealed that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would invest $3 billion in Montana mortgages to help 10,000 homebuyers. He recognized Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Chairman Bill Pulte, who was present at the rally.

During the speech, Trump touted economic gains under his administration and attacked “Democrat communists,” warning they would raise taxes and support policies he characterized as harmful.
