Beshear PAC releases ad tying House hopeful Ralph Alvarado to

Andy Beshear’s PAC is dropping a quarter of a million dollars into Kentucky’s open 6th District, and they’re not doing it because they’re feeling charitable. They’re doing it because they think they can scare Lexington suburban voters into picking their guy, former federal prosecutor Zach Dembo, by making Ralph Alvarado sound radioactive. When Democrats spend like this in a “swingy” district, it’s because they smell a chance. And they’d love nothing more than to turn a Kentucky House seat into a national talking point.

The ad’s whole premise is the usual move: tie the Republican to something unpopular, then let the ominous music do the rest. Beshear can call it “accountability” all day, but it’s still an outside-money hit job designed to define Alvarado before most voters have even tuned in. A PAC ad is not a debate, and it’s not a résumé. If Dembo wants this seat, he can make his case in plain English without hiding behind a glossy spot funded by the governor’s political machine.

Alvarado shouldn’t pretend this is unfair, either. It’s politics. But he should treat it like the warning shot it is. Answer the charges directly, quickly, and with receipts. Tell people what you did, what you didn’t do, and what you’ll fight for in Washington, especially on the economy, the border, and the mess this administration has made of both. Voters can smell dodge-and-weave from a mile away. The fastest way to kill an attack ad is to be specific and unbothered.

And let’s not miss the larger tell here: Beshear is trying to play kingmaker in a federal race, because Democrats know the House runs through districts like this. They want a prosecutor in the seat so they can brand the GOP as extreme and keep the conversation off inflation, crime, and Biden’s failures. Kentucky Republicans don’t have to take the bait. They just have to show up, meet voters where they are, and make sure a governor’s PAC doesn’t buy itself a congressman.
