Brandon Herrera dismisses feminist bomb joke as mere humor

CNN digging up old Brandon Herrera YouTube clips is not exactly a surprise. He built a brand on shock humor and gun-content internet culture, and that comes with a backlog of lines that age poorly once you’re running for Congress. When Herrera shrugs and says they were jokes, he’s not wrong. But he’s also not finished. “Just kidding” isn’t a strategy when you’re asking tens of thousands of regular voters to trust your judgment.

The specific problem here isn’t that Democrats are offended. They’re always offended. The problem is that some of these comments were the cheap kind of funny, the sort that lands in a comment section and then lands on your doorstep as opposition research. If Herrera wants to represent Texas’s 23rd, he should act like he understands the difference between being a creator and being a congressman. Same guy, different job. Stop feeding the easiest attack line.

And yes, let’s not pretend this is some heroic act of journalism. Democrats and their media allies have been trying to flip TX-23 and they’ll use whatever’s lying around, including edgy jokes from years ago. They don’t do this because they care about women’s “dignity.” They do it because it’s a clean way to paint a Republican as unserious, then change the subject from border chaos and the cost of living.

Herrera can beat this, but only if he treats it like a real campaign issue instead of a clip-war. Own the tone, draw a clear line between internet bits and public service, and move on to what matters to the district. Voters want results, not reruns. The left wants you stuck defending old punchlines while they keep failing at governing. Don’t give them the gift.
