'Castro's playbook': Ex-AG warns dozens of congressional bills

The Castro playbook is a real thing. It has chapters on price controls, nationalized industries, and government boards running the economy. A conservative free-market group just went through the bills pending in Congress and found thirty-two that fit that description. An ex-attorney general read the same list and warned we are watching the Democratic Party mainstream adopt it wholesale. He is right to be alarmed.

This isn't about a few fringe freshmen in safe districts. These are serious proposals with sponsors and committee movement behind them. The group's report is exacting, naming bill numbers and sponsors. It lays out price setting schemes, federal takeovers, and new layers of bureaucracy that would make a Soviet planner blush. Democrats keep telling us these are just common-sense "reforms" or "fairness" measures. But when you stack up the actual legislation, the direction is unmistakable. We do not need to debate motives. Read the report and tell us we're wrong. Thirty-two bills is not a coincidence.
