CNN Responds To Trump Banning Network From The White House

So CNN is crying unconstitutional because the President doesn't want their reporters in the briefing room. That’s a curious argument from a network that spent four years telling us the President has zero authority to do anything without congressional approval. Now they suddenly discover the executive has immense power—but only when it’s power they want him to use for them.

The First Amendment doesn't work that way. It stops Congress from making laws that abridge press freedom. It doesn't force the President to hand a microphone to people who openly admit they're not covering him fairly. The press has access to the White House as a privilege, not a constitutional entitlement. If CNN thinks their reporting is so essential, they can cover the administration from the driveway like everyone else who doesn't get invited to the party.

The real story here is that CNN is furious about being treated as what they are: an opposition operation, not a news organization. They ran with the Russia collusion hoax for years. They famously paid a settlement for defaming a Kentucky teenager. They spent eight years pretending to be "the most trusted name in news" while running anonymous editorial attacks on half the country. And now they demand equal access to the President they've tried to destroy since 2015. The audacity would be funny if it weren't so predictable.

Trump isn't banning them from government buildings. He's banning them from his house. That's not a constitutional crisis. That's a management decision. If CNN wants back in, they know what to do: report the news without the editorializing. Stop pretending they're the resistance and start acting like journalists. Until then, they can enjoy the view from outside. We doubt they'll learn a thing, but at least the rest of us get a break from their coverage.
