Coons Wins Delaware Primary Against ‘No-Trump’ Challenger

There’s something almost self-parodying about a guy literally named “No-Trump” running for office in 2026 and making his whole pitch about curbing presidential power. Delaware Democrats had a chance to audition the purest form of Trump-derangement politics, and they passed. Chris Coons didn’t just win. He won easily. Even Delaware Democrats aren’t buying the gimmick.

Hansen’s message, as reported, wasn’t really about Delaware. It was a protest sign with a filing fee. “Curb presidential power” sounds noble until you remember these are the same people who cheered executive overreach when it suited them, from agency rulemaking to midnight court fights to “emergency” everything. The problem is not that presidents have power. The problem is when Democrats pretend it’s a crisis only when Trump might use it. They want the leash only for one dog.

Coons, for his part, is no friend of ours. But he’s a recognizable quantity: a party man who wins by running like a grown-up and letting the national drama happen on cable news. Delaware voters picked the safer bet, and that tells you something. When Democrats say they’re “defending democracy,” a lot of their own voters hear “another endless anti-Trump crusade,” and they’re tired of the act.

Republicans should take the hint and not get distracted by the noise either. If the left can’t even rally behind a candidate whose name is basically a bumper sticker, then their real plan isn’t some high-minded constitutional reset.
