Dem Speaker Slammed for Using 9/11 to Criticize Trump Policy

If you have to drag 9/11 into a routine partisan jab, you’ve already lost the plot. Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton reportedly tied President Trump’s immigration crackdown to the threat of another 9/11. That isn’t “raising concerns.” It’s using the country’s worst day as a prop, and it lands exactly the way you’d expect: ugly, cheap, and unserious.

Here’s the part that sticks in our throat. 9/11 happened because our system was asleep at the wheel, with bad information sharing, weak screening, and a political class that didn’t want to face hard truths. Trump’s argument, whether you like his style or not, is that we should stop being naïve about who comes in and how. You can debate details, you can fight over metrics, but calling enforcement “9/11” politics is a smear, not a point.

Ryan Mackenzie is right to demand an apology. Not because anyone needs to tiptoe around Trump. Because 9/11 families aren’t a talking point, and lawmakers shouldn’t treat them like one. If McClinton thinks there’s a specific policy that makes Pennsylvanians less safe, name it. Say what provision fails, what loophole opens, what agency can’t handle the load. Democrats keep telling us they’re the adults in the room. Fine. Adults don’t reach for the darkest analogy in American life to score a quick hit on an immigration crackdown a lot of voters actually support. Say you disagree, argue it straight, and leave 9/11 where it belongs: in the category of national tragedy, not legislative banter. Apologize, correct the record, and move on..
