Democrat Attorney General Slams Her Party for Allowing Antisemitism to Flourish

Dana Nessel didn't have to say this. She's an elected Democrat in a state Democrats need, and she went out and told her own party that it has an antisemitism problem it's been too comfortable ignoring. That takes something. It's a lot easier to stay quiet and let the activist wing set the tone, which is exactly what's been happening in a lot of Democratic spaces for a while now.

What's notable isn't just that she said it, it's that someone finally had to. This isn't a fringe complaint anymore. It's shown up in city councils, campus groups, and plenty of local party organizations where criticism of Israel slides into something uglier and nobody with any standing wants to be the one to draw the line. Nessel drew it. Good for her.

We'd like to say this leads to some kind of reckoning, but be honest with yourself about how these things usually go. A few statements of support, maybe a resolution nobody enforces, and then back to business as usual until the next incident forces the conversation again. The people who needed to hear this the most are the ones least likely to change because of it.

Still, credit where it's due. It's rare enough these days to see a politician break from their own side on something uncomfortable instead of just managing the story. Whether her party actually listens is a different question, and probably not one we'll like the answer to.
