If the reporting is accurate, and the candidate hired someone they knew was a foreign national to handle campaign communications, they didn't stumble into a violation—they made a willful choice to ignore a rule they know full well exists. This isn't a bookkeeping error; it's a deliberate end-run around the law.

Watch how this gets handled. If a Republican had done this, the networks would be running a crawl at the bottom of the screen for a solid week. The FEC would be under public pressure to drop the hammer before the ink dried on the complaint. But when a Democrat does it? We expect a shrug.
