The Brief

Gavin and Stacey actress Melanie Walters has become the second celebrity eliminated from this season of Strictly Come Dancing. Walters, 64, and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 36, were voted off during Sunday night's results episode after finishing in the bottom two for the second consecutive week.

In Saturday's episode, the pair performed a Charleston to "Ooh Ahh… Just A Little Bit" by Gina G, scoring 17 points from the judges. Craig Revel Horwood said he "didn't love" the dance, while Motsi Mabuse encouraged Walters to "keep going." In the dance-off, they faced former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips and his partner Alexis Warr, who had scored 15 for their quickstep to "I'm A Believer" by The Monkees.

The judges voted to save Wright-Phillips, with Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, and Revel Horwood all choosing him, while Mabuse voted for Walters. Walters is best known for playing Gwen West in the BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey, a role she first played in 2007 and reprised for the 2024 Christmas special. The remaining 13 couples will compete next week in icons week.
