The Brief

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton attended a New Year's Eve party in Dubai in 2025 with two U.S. citizens who are fugitives, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The two men, Anosh Ahmed and Sameer Suhail, were indicted in 2024 on federal charges related to healthcare fraud, accused of embezzling more than $15 million from a Chicago hospital.

Ahmed had previously donated $190,000 to Paxton's campaigns. Video from the party also shows Paxton with Tracy Duhon, a Christian influencer who later became his girlfriend. The footage was recorded months before Paxton's estranged wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, filed for divorce.

Paxton has not admitted to an affair with Duhon, and the two were also seen together in London. Paxton was acquitted in his 2023 impeachment trial over allegations of bribery and abuse of office, which he called politically motivated. He also faced state and federal fraud charges in 2015 and 2016 that were dropped.

The report comes as Paxton, a Republican, campaigns against Democrat James Talarico in the Texas Senate race.
