Maine Dem Senate hopeful Troy Jackson kicked out of own Facebook

So much for “Mainers for Troy Jackson.” The Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful got the boot from his own Facebook group after supporters started asking why campaign events had been cancelled. Not a detailed answer. Not a “we’re working on it.” Just a quick digital shove out the door. A candidate who silences his own supporters isn’t running a campaign, he’s running a tantrum.

This is a small story, but it’s a revealing one. Campaigns cancel things all the time, and voters get frustrated. That’s normal politics. The test is what happens next. Jackson had a chance to explain himself, maybe even smooth things over. Instead, he made the complaint disappear. Deleting the question is cheaper than answering it, but it costs something real. It tells every person in that group that the campaign’s comfort matters more than their concerns.

Republicans should take note. So should independents. This is the style of politics Maine progressives have settled into: disagreement gets treated as disloyalty, and disloyalty gets removed from the room. It’s a strange way to win over a state where people expect to be heard, even when they’re wrong. You don’t win Maine by showing voters the exit.

Troy Jackson might recover from this. Campaigns have survived worse. But the image is going to stick, because it’s a perfect little picture of how the left treats its own. If he can’t take a hard question from his base, what happens when the general election gets uncomfortable? Maybe the group page should be renamed “Temporarily Mainers for Troy Jackson.”.
