Melania Trump’s home-country leader rips UN ‘double standards’ as

Janez Janša didn't come to New York to make friends. Slovenia’s prime minister stood at the UN and called the place out for treating some wars as worthy of tears and others as beneath notice. Gaza gets hearings and hot takes. Ukraine gets resolutions and arms. That’s not principle, that’s politics wearing a peacekeeper’s helmet. The UN picks its humanitarian crises by political convenience. And Janša said so right to its face.

He also dropped a detail that didn’t get enough attention. Trump told him he’ll visit Slovenia, Melania’s homeland. That’s a nice bit of personal history, sure, but it’s more than that. Trump doesn’t need to make that trip. He’s not chasing votes in Ljubljana. He’s showing that America First doesn’t mean turning our back on small allies. Slovenia matters because friendship matters, not because the UN says so.

The left will squirm because Janša is blunt and pro-Trump. That’s the giveaway. If he had praised the UN’s “rules-based order,” they’d call him a statesman. Instead he pointed out the obvious: the UN has one standard for Russia’s neighbor and another for Israel’s. That’s not a moral position, it’s a double standard. Good for him for saying it.

Trump’s promise is a reminder that real leadership starts with loyalty to friends, not applause from bureaucrats. If Janša wants to show the UN what that looks like, he’s got a guest room ready.
