You have to wonder how many volunteers they've run off and how many donations they've burned, all to score points with the crowd that thinks "MAGA" is a slur.

Here is what is genuinely baffling about this. The entire mission of an animal rescue is to find permanent homes for creatures that cannot speak for themselves. They often beg for foster families, plead for donations, and screen applicants hoping to find that perfect fit. By throwing up a wall against a large swath of the public, they are turning a homecoming into a political test. If a qualified, loving family shows up who just happens to have a yard sign for the wrong candidate, they get turned away. That hurts the animal, not the human.

Maybe the staff thinks this is a cost-free virtue signal. It isn't. Dozens of rescues operate quietly, focusing on the work rather than the politics, and they seem to manage just fine without insulting half the country. The truth is, this kind of partisan cruelty is why people are fed up with non-profits. Charitable status comes with a public trust, and this display of intolerance is an abuse of that trust. It should also cost them their donors.

We suspect the leadership of this group believes they are on the right side of history. They aren't.
