The DSA Isn’t Just Coming for Capitalism. It Is Coming for

You have to hand it to the Democratic Socialists of America. They finally found a way to make their pipe dreams about seizing the means of production sound almost quaint. Forget the endless debates about worker co-ops and nationalizing the energy grid. The real action is in shutting down highway interchanges in Brooklyn and marching for a foreign terror group's victory.

The story here isn't that a fringe group of leftists is chanting hateful slogans. We've known that for years. The shift is that the DSA has pivoted from a movement that merely despises American capitalism to one that actively despises the American nation itself. They aren't just arguing over tax rates anymore; they are picking a side against their own country in a world war of ideas. When the DSA's national leadership refuses to condemn Hamas and instead blames Israel for its own attempted annihilation, the mask comes off. This is not a policy disagreement. It is a fundamental loyalty problem.

And their fellow travelers in the broader progressive movement are showing us their card. Look at the campus protests and the city council resolutions. The anger isn't aimed at getting a better deal for American workers; it is aimed at dismantling the very idea of a nation-state with borders and interests. The hard left is uniting around a single, simple premise: American power is the real enemy. That is a dangerous consensus to build, because it turns every domestic grievance into a foreign policy crisis.

This is where conservatives have to keep our heads. It is easy to get distracted by the economic fantasyland of the DSA, to laugh off their talk of abolishing billionaires as unserious. But we ignore the sovereignty angle at our peril. The left hasn't given up on economics; they've just realized that to kill the American economy, they first have to kill American legitimacy. The fight over our country's soul is now a foreign policy fight too, and the GOP needs to treat it as such. Being pro-America used to mean defending our shores. Now it means defending our history, our symbols, and our allies from a domestic movement that wants to see us all fail.
