The headline says the media are going to “destroy” a holdout juror, and honestly, we didn’t even need the extra context. We have seen this movie. The second a juror doesn’t vote the way the internet wants, it stops being “civic duty” and turns into a public hunt for a name, a face, an employer, a neighborhood. A juror is not a public official. They’re a regular person who got summoned to do a hard, thankless job.

The thing that should make people nervous is how quickly some outlets slide from reporting to pressuring. They know the rules. They know jurors are supposed to deliberate without fear of getting doxed, harassed, or “profiled” into submission. And they also know that even hinting at identity can light the fuse. This is how verdicts get bullied into place. If your cause is so righteous that it needs intimidation to win, maybe it’s not as righteous as you think.

Plenty of Americans already believe the system is rigged, and stunts like this don’t help. If the media want trust, start with basic restraint. Report the facts of the case. Explain the legal issues. Leave the private citizens alone, especially the one who won’t go along to get along. You don’t protect justice by ruining jurors. You protect it by letting them do their job in peace, even when the answer makes people mad.
