Trump: China Spying on US Amid Iran Strike Imagery Report

The line that stuck out wasn’t even the accusation. It was the shrug. When President Trump was asked about a report tying Chinese satellite imagery to Iran’s July missile attack that killed American troops, he said China spies on us and “we spy on them too.” That’s true as far as it goes. But families who buried service members don’t need a seminar on great-power reality. They want to know if Beijing helped Tehran pull the trigger.

If Chinese imagery made that strike easier or deadlier, that’s not “everybody does it.” That’s a foreign government enabling attacks on Americans. We don’t have to pretend this is the first time rivals have played both sides. We also don’t have to accept it as background noise. The right response is pressure and consequences, not clever symmetry.

And yes, Trump is also right to remind people that Washington has been naïve for a long time about China. The same crowd that mocked him for warning about Beijing spent years letting China buy influence, steal tech, and sink hooks into supply chains. Now we’re surprised a Chinese satellite might be part of Iran’s kill chain. Stop treating China like a neutral bystander when their fingerprints keep showing up around our enemies.

The public also deserves more than vibes and headlines. If the intel community believes the link is real, say what you can, fast, and move on it. Sanctions, export controls, and hard limits on any Chinese companies feeding Iran’s military machine should be on the table. If they’re helping Iran target our troops, it can’t be business as usual.
