“Fine and dandy” is not how most Americans talk about a six-month war. It’s classic Trump, for better and worse: he tries to lower the temperature, project control, and tell people not to panic. But when the stakes are rockets, shipping lanes, and U.S. troops in the region, the words still matter. Optimism is welcome. Vagueness isn’t.

To his credit, Trump is signaling something important: he wants this wrapped up, not dragged out for another year of “limited” strikes that somehow never end. The country is tired of open-ended Middle East commitments, and so are we. If Iran really has been “pushed back,” then the next step is clear and hard: lock in the gains, stop the bleeding, and don’t fall for a face-saving counterpunch that pulls us deeper. End it on terms that stick.

What we do not need is a public-relations fog machine where everyone is told things are going great while families watch fuel prices jump and headlines hint at escalation. If the administration sees a path to an end, it should outline the basics: what “wrapping up” means, what the off-ramp looks like, and what triggers more action. Not a lecture, not a victory parade.
