WATCH LIVE: Trump hosts Hispanic Heritage Month event

Last year, Hispanic Heritage Month got a press release and a pat on the head. This Wednesday, President Trump is doing something different. He’s hosting a live event at the White House with Hispanic American business owners in the audience, one month before the midterms. That is a signal worth reading carefully.

The left has taken this community for granted for decades. They show up for votes, then disappear. Trump is showing up in person, with policy to back it up. His tax cuts helped small business owners. Deregulation gave entrepreneurs room to breathe. None of that gets a full ceremony in the mainstream press, but it’s the kind of thing people notice when their own businesses are on the line.

So call it an election stunt if you want. The President is still the one doing the work of actually speaking to Hispanic voters as voters, not as a demographic category. He is treating them like people with ambitions, not a locked box. That’s a contrast the Democrats should be nervous about. We’ll take a celebration like this over a press release any day.
