A New Website Just Put Ohio Democrat Don Leonard's Record Under the Microscope

The new website going after Don Leonard is not subtle, and it is not trying to be. It’s a greatest-hits reel of “gotcha” clips and hypocrisy charges aimed at the Democrat trying to knock off Rep. Mike Carey in Ohio’s 15th. You can practically hear the campaign consultants high-fiving through the screen.

Here’s the thing: voters aren’t allergic to negative information. They’re allergic to being played. If Leonard has taken one position in public and another when it’s convenient, that’s fair game. If he’s backed policies that would make life more expensive or less safe in a district that’s already had enough of Washington experimenting on it, people deserve to know. But a “radical policies” label isn’t evidence. It’s a bumper sticker. Show the votes, the quotes, the donors, the receipts.

We also don’t love the idea that a polished website is supposed to stand in for actual local scrutiny. If Leonard’s record is really “under the microscope,” then let’s see the microscope work. Where did he stand on energy, on inflation, on the border, on the kind of federal spending that keeps getting waved through while families do the math at the grocery store? Don’t just imply he’s extreme. Prove it, and do it in a way a normal person can trust.

And yes, this cuts both ways. Carey shouldn’t get a free pass just because the other guy is being tagged online. Ohio-15 is not looking for theater. It’s looking for someone who will stop treating Washington’s priorities as the default setting. If this website pushes Leonard to answer clear questions with clear answers, good. If it’s just another round of political rage-bait dressed up as “accountability,” voters will tune it out and resent the people who wasted their time.
