Anti-ICE Rioter Sentenced to 3 Years for Attacking Agents

The video told the whole story. A guy in Los Angeles, worked up in an anti-ICE riot, winding up and hurling big rocks at immigration officers like it was sport. That is not “protest.” It is a felony with a body count built in, if the aim is a head instead of a shield. Three years in prison is the sentence he earned, and frankly it is the kind of consequence we have been missing for a long time.

We have gotten used to a weird double standard in public life. If you so much as brush past a police line at the wrong rally, the country is told it is an emergency. But when immigration agents get attacked in the street, too many voices suddenly discover nuance. Throwing rocks at federal agents is attempted mayhem, no matter what slogan you brought to the riot.

ICE officers are not abstract symbols. They are workers in a dangerous job the political class keeps trying to wish away. If Washington wants fewer tense encounters, it can start with sane border policy and clear laws, not by letting mobs decide who gets to enforce them. You do not get to veto immigration enforcement with violence.

Three years will not fix everything, but it draws a line. It says the government will back its own people when they are under attack. And it sends a message to the next guy thinking about picking up a rock: actions have costs, even when you call it activism.
