Bill Maher calls out Fauci for telling ‘actual lies’ about COVID-19 origins after Senate hearing

Bill Maher isn't exactly a Fox News regular, so when he's the one saying Fauci got caught in "actual lies," that's worth sitting with for a second. This isn't a partisan potshot anymore. It's a guy who spent years defending the public health establishment now saying the quiet part out loud on his own show.

The origin question was never some fringe obsession. People asked reasonable things: why did gain-of-function research at a Chinese lab get downplayed so fast, why did the lab leak theory get memory-holed as a conspiracy before anyone actually investigated it, why did the guy funding some of that research also become the face of telling Americans what to believe about where the virus came from. Those aren't gotcha questions. They're the basic stuff you'd want answered before trusting the next set of mandates and lockdowns.

What's striking is how long it took for that skepticism to become acceptable in polite company. For a couple years, asking about Wuhan got you labeled a crank or worse, deplatformed on social media for "misinformation." Now a Senate hearing happens, Maher watches it, and suddenly it's fine to say the guy wasn't straight with the country.

Better late than never, but late matters. Millions of people lost jobs, businesses, and normal life over guidance built on confidence nobody earned. If it takes Bill Maher saying it for some folks to finally listen, fine. We'll take the win. But the real question is whether anyone in power actually gets held accountable, or if this just becomes another cable news moment that fades by next week.
