Feds probe $100M anti-Israel ‘war chest’ tied to glamorous Mamdani ally: sources

A hundred million dollars is not pocket change, and it's not the kind of money that moves quietly without someone eventually asking where it came from. That's apparently what federal investigators are now doing, looking into a war chest connected to a Mamdani ally whose resume reads like a checklist for New York tabloid outrage: Al Jazeera staffer, Booz Allen Hamilton consultant, steady donor to Rashida Tlaib. None of those things is illegal on its own. Together, with this kind of money attached, they're worth a hard look.

What's striking is how unbothered everyone around Mamdani seems by the company he keeps. New York City is about to be run by a mayor whose social circle includes people bankrolling the most stridently anti-Israel voices in Congress, and the reaction from his allies has been a shrug. If a Republican mayoral candidate had a wealthy friend funneling nine figures toward, say, a controversial nationalist cause, the coverage would not be a single wire story buried on page six. It would be wall to wall.

We're not accusing anyone of a crime before the facts are in. That's what the investigation is for. But New Yorkers deserve to know exactly how this money moved, who touched it, and whether their incoming mayor's inner circle had any role in directing it. A city that just elected a democratic socialist shouldn't also have to wonder if it elected someone comfortable adjacent to a hundred-million-dollar mystery fund tied to some of the loudest Israel-bashing in American politics.
