GOP Leader Shares Strategy to Secure Minority Votes Without Trump

It’s telling that T.W. Shannon is out there pitching a plan to win minority votes “without Trump,” while admitting Trump is the guy who changed the party’s trajectory. You can’t build a new house by pretending the foundation wasn’t poured by someone else. Trump didn’t just slap a new label on the GOP. He made it feel like a party that noticed people who punch a clock.

Shannon’s best line is the simplest one: jobs and safer streets. That’s not a gimmick, and it’s not “outreach” in the corny sense. Talk about paychecks and public safety, then show receipts. If Republicans want more Black voters, it won’t be because of carefully curated photo-ops. It’ll be because families see wages rising, small businesses opening, and the neighborhood getting calmer instead of more chaotic.

But here’s the part that gets awkward for the anti-Trump strategists. Trump is the most obvious proof-of-concept for exactly what Shannon is selling. He ran on work, borders, and law and order. He didn’t talk down to people, and he didn’t act like certain voters were “owed” to one party forever. You don’t have to erase Trump to copy what worked.

If the GOP wants to lock this in, the message can’t be “we’ll do it again, just with a different face.” It has to be a clear promise, backed by policy, that normal life will be easier: more jobs, less crime, lower costs. Democrats have had years to deliver for the same communities they campaign in every cycle, and the results aren’t exactly sparkling. Results beat rhetoric, every time..
