Jeffries brags about Dem obstruction against Trump as he defends Kushner meeting

Hakeem Jeffries wants it both ways, and he's not even being subtle about it. In the same breath he defends sitting down with Jared Kushner, he turns around and brags to his base about how effectively House Democrats have gummed up the works on anything Trump wants to do. That's not a contradiction he's trying to hide. It's the whole strategy laid bare: play statesman when a camera catches you shaking hands with the White House, then tell your donors and your base you're the one throwing sand in the gears.

Voters can smell that kind of two-step from a mile away. If the meeting with Kushner was worth having, defend it on the merits, say what you talked about, say what you hoped to get out of it. Don't use it as a talking point to prove you're still willing to "engage" while simultaneously using obstruction as your applause line to the party faithful. Those two messages aren't really compatible, and Jeffries knows it, which is why he's delivering them in the same video instead of letting either one stand on its own.

This is what a lot of Democratic leadership has become since Trump won back the White House: performative bipartisanship for the press, performative resistance for the base. Nobody actually believes Jeffries walked out of that meeting looking for common ground. The obstruction bragging tells you what the real agenda is. The meeting was just the photo op.
