Left Launches Smear Campaign Against Trump on 9/11 Anniversary

There are days when you expect the country to lower its voice. The 9/11 anniversary is one of them. And yet we’re told the press couldn’t resist turning even that into another round of “gotcha” politics aimed at Donald Trump, with New York and the White House dragged into the same cheap frame. If you’re hunting for a smear on 9/11, you’re not doing journalism.

We don’t need to pretend politicians are saints, and nobody is asking for fawning coverage. But there’s a difference between reporting facts and searching for a villain to keep the daily outrage engine fed. If the story is about commemorations, security, the families, the lessons learned, then cover that. If there’s a real scandal, put it on the table with specifics. Dates, quotes, documents. No more insinuation-as-headline.

This is where the public rolls its eyes and tunes out, and the press has only itself to blame. People can feel when something is being packaged to land a punch instead of inform. On a day like that, the instinct should be restraint, not rehearsal of the same Trump narrative with a new coat of paint. Some moments aren’t campaign content.

We’re not saying criticism of Trump is off-limits. We’re saying the bar should be higher than a drive-by smear, especially when the country is remembering the dead and the first responders who ran toward smoke. If the left wants to argue about leadership, start with what actually happened, not what plays well in a clip. And if the media wants credibility back, it can start by acting like 9/11 is bigger than their politics.
