Nebraska Democratic Party sued by its own county chair over harassment allegations

A county party chair suing her own state party over sexual harassment is the kind of story that would be wall-to-wall coverage for a week if the letters after the names were different. Instead it's a local item out of Nebraska that most people will never see. That tells you something about which scandals get amplified and which ones get buried, and it has nothing to do with the seriousness of the underlying claim.

Here's what's notable: this isn't a Republican accusing Democrats of hypocrisy from the outside. This is a Democrat, in an official party role, saying the party apparatus itself failed to protect her when she reported harassment. That's about as credible a source as you can get, and it's the exact scenario progressive institutions have spent a decade insisting only happens on the other side of the aisle. Workplace harassment, retaliation, institutional cover for it, these aren't partisan diseases. We'd bet money that if a Republican county chair filed the same lawsuit against the GOP, it would be national news within hours, cited as proof of a rotten culture. When it's a Democrat suing Democrats, it barely registers outside Nebraska. That double standard in coverage is worth calling out on its own, separate from whatever the courts eventually decide about the merits of her claim.

None of that means we should assume guilt before the facts are in. But a sitting county chair doesn't sue her own party for sport. Something happened that made her decide internal channels weren't going to fix it, and that's worth more attention than it's getting.
