Ohio Dem Amy Acton’s Team Bans Cameraman from Debate Coverage

“Dr. Amy Acton, why do you refuse to debate your opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy?” Instead of answering it like a grown-up running for office, her team’s move was to ban a cameraman from covering the event. That’s not “media management.” That’s panic.

We’ve all watched candidates try to run out the clock by hiding behind friendly venues and curated Q&As. But kicking a camera out is the tell. If your argument is strong, you want the footage. You want the clip that shows you holding your own. When you start policing who can record, you’re admitting the public might not like what it sees.

And the debate dodge itself is the bigger issue. Ohio voters aren’t buying a product on Instagram. They’re picking a governor. Vivek Ramaswamy is out there asking for the matchup, and Acton is acting like a debate is some optional extra she can decline if the lighting isn’t right. Refusing to debate is refusing to be tested. That’s especially rich from a figure who became famous through public-facing crisis leadership and nonstop TV.

Democrats love to scold everyone about “threats to democracy,” then they flinch when a simple question turns into a real exchange on camera. If Acton wants the job, she should show up, debate, and take the hits like everyone else. And if her team can’t handle a cameraman, voters should ask themselves what else they plan to keep off-screen. Ohio deserves answers, not bouncers.
