Rudy Giuliani says Judge Boasberg could face impeachment over Chinese biotech company ruling

Rudy Giuliani wants Judge Boasberg impeached, and before anyone rolls their eyes, it's worth asking what actually happened here. Boasberg blocked the Pentagon from labeling a Chinese biotech firm a "Chinese military company." That's not some abstract procedural dispute. That designation exists so the government can restrict a company's access to American capital and contracts when there's reason to believe it's tied to Beijing's military apparatus. A federal judge stepping in to stop that determination is a big deal, and people are right to want to know why.

Now, "impeach the judge" is a heavy lever to pull, and Giuliani's track record on legal strategy over the last few years doesn't exactly inspire confidence that he's picked the right one. Impeachment of an Article III judge is supposed to be reserved for actual misconduct, not disagreement with a ruling, however maddening the ruling might be. Whether or not impeachment is the right tool, the question of why a Chinese firm with possible military links gets judicial protection from scrutiny is one worth asking loudly, not quietly shelving because the messenger is Rudy Giuliani.
