SEE IT: Dem senators rally behind El-Sayed but duck questions on progressive agenda

Watching Senate Democrats line up behind Abdul El-Sayed while refusing to say a word about what he actually believes tells you everything about where that party is right now. Defund the police. Abolish ICE. Medicare for All. These aren't fringe whispers from some county convention, they're the candidate's platform, and the people endorsing him won't touch the specifics with a ten-foot pole.

That dodge is the story. If these positions were popular, or even defensible on the merits, you'd expect the senators campaigning with El-Sayed to say so plainly. Instead we get the shrug, the change of subject, the vague nod toward "supporting Democrats up and down the ballot." It's the same move we've watched for years: embrace the energy of the progressive base in primary season, then go quiet on the actual policies once a microphone is pointed at you.

Voters deserve better than a wink and a handshake photo op. If Medicare for All is the future of the party, say so and defend the price tag. If abolishing ICE is the plan, explain what replaces border enforcement. Instead we get senators who want the enthusiasm of the activist wing without the accountability that comes with owning its ideas.

That's not conviction, it's a calculation, and voters tend to notice when they're being managed rather than leveled with.
