What’s in the second Epstein transparency bill pushed by Massie

There was no reason this should have taken two votes. The House already told the government to turn over Jeffrey Epstein’s files once, and somehow a sequel became necessary. That alone tells you everything about how Washington handles a story it would rather bury.

Credit goes to Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna for tagging the ball again. They make an odd pairing, a Kentucky Republican and a California Democrat, but they both seem to get something basic: the public is tired of being treated like children. The first resolution was supposed to open the books. Then nothing. Now the same pair has to round up signatures all over again just to force a second look. That is not how transparency is supposed to work.

The natural question is why the resistance is so stubborn. If the files are as empty as the establishment claims, release them and move on. The fact that the FBI and Justice Department keep signaling they need more time suggests there are names they are protecting. It might be embarrassing to powerful people on both sides, and that is exactly why we need to see it.

Maybe this second dump ends up being a long list of nothing. Fine. We can find that out ourselves. But a government that has to be dragged twice into showing its work is a government with something to hide. Vote it through, and let the sunshine do the rest..
