CNN left off Air Force One for Trump’s trip to Tennessee as White

The White House picks who rides on Air Force One. That has always been true, and it will be true under every president. CNN is acting like a seat on the plane is a constitutional right, which is a strange position for a network that spent four years calling the guy in the cabin a wannabe dictator. The real story is that the press pool is a privilege, not an entitlement, and the Trump White House simply decided to use its allotment for a conservative outlet that actually covers this administration in good faith.

A seat on Air Force One is not a news story. Access journalism is a perk, and perks get rotated. CNN’s reporters have spent the better part of a decade treating Trump as an existential threat to the republic. Now they’re shocked he doesn’t want them along for a ride to Tennessee. That’s not a First Amendment issue. That’s a relationship issue, and CNN burned the bridge on purpose.

What’s worth noticing is that Real America’s Voice got the slot. For years, conservative media had to beg for scraps while the networks and the big papers decided who got to ask questions. Trump is finally breaking that establishment monopoly, and of course the old guard calls it a scandal. Turnabout is fair play when the other side spent generations stacking the deck. The media didn’t care about fairness when they were the only ones in the room.

CNN will survive this. They’ll file a complaint, write a few angry columns, and keep covering the president from a thousand miles away. But the meltdown over a missed flight says more about their sense of entitlement than it does about transparency. The American people don’t need CNN on Air Force One to know what’s happening. They just need a White House willing to tell the truth to someone other than the usual suspects.
