That’s a smart pivot for him, because his actual record is a mess. Illinois has crime problems, taxes problems, and a pension debt that just keeps growing. A weight loss confession is easier than explaining any of that.

There’s also a dose of irony the governor probably doesn’t want to dwell on. The left loves to attack drug companies and price-gouging, yet here’s a top Democrat benefiting from a high-end medication that many Americans can’t afford. Pritzker can pay for the shot and the campaign consultants. For the rest of the country, it’s a monthly bill that breaks the budget.

We don’t begrudge him the health victory. But let’s not pretend this makes him relatable. He’s a billionaire using a luxury drug to get ready for a White House bid. If he wants empathy for his journey, he could start by explaining why his state doesn’t work for ordinary people. That would take more than a tour of the produce aisle.
