White House TV pool to suspend coverage of Trump events

Fox News, ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC just agreed to pull the White House video pool in response to the President’s attempt to bounce CNN from the press room. Let’s not pretend this is about protecting the First Amendment. It’s about the press treating itself as a guild that answers to nobody, not even the duly elected President. The pool is a logistical convenience, not a constitutional right. These outlets turned it into a bargaining chip because they don’t like that Trump finally called out one of their own.

Now, Trump’s CNN beef was never subtle. The network has spent years acting like a Trump opposition operation with a news desk, and the White House was right to be fed up. But here’s the part that matters: the President didn’t ban CNN from reporting. He tried to exclude them from the daily press gaggle, which is a privilege, not a right. And the other networks, including Fox, responded by flexing their collective muscle to protect that privilege. That move tells you everything about how the media works. They don't defend each other. They defend access.

The real irony is that this “unified” response proves Trump’s point. When it comes to controlling the narrative, the legacy networks are a cartel, and they’ll happily pull the plug on the White House to show who actually runs Washington.
